Creation of an Interactive Online Book titled “The santorini of Santorini”

The project “The santorini of Santorini” was carried out by the Boutaris Foundation. Its aim was to digitally transform the Foundation’s print publication of the same title into a modern, open-access, and interactive cultural product. The project seeks to foster the creation and promotion of high-quality digital cultural content, with a particular focus on winemaking and viticulture.

The original print edition—now a collector’s item and no longer available—marked a significant milestone in the publishing history of Greek wine. Dedicated to Santorini wine and the natural and historical richness of the island’s viticulture, it was published in 1994 by the Boutaris Foundation under the direction of the distinguished oenologist Dr. Stavroula Kourakou-Dragona.

Recognizing the importance of digital transformation in culture and investing in innovative initiatives that enhance the digital dimension of wine, the Boutaris Foundation proceeded with the digitization of the publication. This initiative aimed to make the work openly accessible to the public, contributing to the Foundation’s vision of creating a “library-ark” that preserves the history and sustainability of Greek wine through technology and new media. In essence, it connects the cultural heritage of Greek wine with contemporary digital practices of storytelling and knowledge dissemination.

PostScriptum, as part of this collaboration, was responsible for drafting and submitting the proposal, as well as managing the funded project. Its role included coordination, monitoring the implementation—carried out by Polyptychon—and facilitating communication among all parties involved.

The project was funded under the Ministry of Culture’s programme “Creative Greece – Contemporary Culture Grants 2024”, within the framework of the “Digital Culture” call.

Upgrade of the collection management system from MuseumPlus Classic to MuseumPlus Cloud

The Acropolis Museum has made a dynamic entry into the field of digital technologies, opening new channels of communication with both domestic and international audiences. As part of the project “Creation of the Acropolis Digital Museum,” a range of applications was developed to highlight the multifaceted nature of its exhibits and to offer enriched experiences within the Museum’s galleries.

Between 2014 and 2024, PostScriptum implemented and supported the MuseumPlus Classic collection management system at the Museum, establishing it as a key tool for the digital preservation and management of its collections. In total, 27,755 digital records, corresponding to 10,557 objects, were migrated to the system, including all items exhibited in the Museum’s galleries.

In 2025, PostScriptum undertook the upgrade from MuseumPlus Classic to MuseumPlus Cloud, alongside the full customisation of the new system in accordance with the organisation’s specific requirements. This process included the migration and restructuring of data, ensuring consistency, integrity, and interoperability across the system.

Today, MuseumPlus Cloud contains 33,590 objects linked to 48,371 digital files and operates as the central hub for the cataloguing and management of the Museum’s collections. In parallel, PostScriptum delivered a targeted training programme for the Museum’s staff, supporting the effective and confident use of the system.

MuseumPlus Cloud represents PostScriptum’s new solution for museum collection management. Continuously enriched with new entries, it forms the backbone of collection management and provides the foundation for the organisation of exhibitions, as well as for the development of interactive content, games, and publications. At the same time, it enables the seamless export of data to the Museum’s website, offering the public open access to scientific and research material.

Greek Participation in the International Exhibition “The Tides of the Century – 2020 International Art Exhibition” at Ocean Flower Island in Southern China

PostScriptum carried out the production and coordination of the contemporary art exhibition “Thesis – Antithesis – Synthesis. On the Trajectory of Change,” curated by Katerina Koskina. The exhibition constituted Greece’s official participation as the honored country in the “The Tides of the Century – 2020 International Art Exhibition,” held at Ocean Flower Island in Hainan, the new economic and tourist destination in Southern China. This international exhibition spans across seven museums, one of which was entirely dedicated to the Greek participation for the 2020 edition.

The participation was approved following a special invitation received by PostScriptum in January 2020 to submit a proposal for Greece’s participation as the honored country from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, specifically from the Chinese International Exhibition Agency (CIEA). This invitation followed the successful participation of the Greek pavilion in the international exhibition “China International Import Expo – CIIE” held in Shanghai in November 2019.

The proposal, developed in collaboration with curator Katerina Koskina and the Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF) as an invited participant, was selected as the best. The setup of the exhibition was completed in an unprecedented manner, conducted remotely due to the pandemic, in February 2021. Amidst a general lockdown and the particular conditions in cargo transportation, over fifty (50) significant works of contemporary Greek art traveled from around the world to the border region of Hainan. For three entire weeks, the curatorial and production teams overcame distance, language barriers, time differences, and, with the assistance of PostScriptum’s partners in China, managed to set up an exhibition in a 1,500 sqm space with the participation of thirty-four (34) Greek artists.

The Greek participation was also carried out under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization, and the Municipality of Athens, and was included in the official events program of 2021, “Year of China-Greece Cultural and Tourism Exchange.”
